NC Climate Justice Collective’s 7th Statewide Summit
April 11-13, 2025
Join us for NC Climate Justice Collective’s 7th Statewide Summit, April 11-13, 2025! Bringing together youth and adults from all over NC, we connect, heal, and grow everybody’s movement. The goal of the NC Climate Justice Summit is to explore grassroots solutions that make our communities more resilient, more equitable, and more powerful in the face of climate chaos.
This year’s focus, Just Recovery: A Pathway to Just Transition, will deepen solidarity among communities from Western NC and Eastern NC so that we can all build back better than before storms devastated our regions. Impacted communities will have the space to share experiences so we can align our struggles. We will learn inner resilience practices for healing and restoration to lift each other up. Skills-building workshops in Energy Justice, Food Justice and Cooperative Development will help us re-create thriving local economies. And we will spark our revolutionary joy with singing, dancing, spoken word and story circles!
We are honored to feature nationally renowned artists and activists at this Summit. Leaders in the climate justice movement will be joining us from the Gulf South, the Mariana Islands, California and Puerto Rico to share their own Just Recovery approaches and lessons learned. Our Keynote Performer, Shirlette Ammons, is an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning producer, poet, hip-hop artist and sought-after collaborator on music, film, and tv projects. On her latest album, “Spectacles,” she blends aspects of her eastern North Carolina roots with her love for her Triangle-based community to explore the concept of spectacle: how we see, what we see and how we’re seen.
Our Summit will again be held at the beautiful Haw River State Park in Browns Summit, NC, just 20 minutes north of Greensboro. This environmental education and conference center offers full amenities for lodging, meeting, and 1,500 acres of recreation in nature.
Community members from regions impacted by NC climate disasters are invited to attend this event free of charge: the registration cost, on-site lodging and meals will be fully covered for all three days of the event. Contact connie@ncclimatejustice.info to request your registration code.
Space is limited...so register now! Registration closes Friday, March 28th
